E.ON Hungária installs digital monitoring at all pressure stations to curb methane emissions

E.ON Hungária has equipped every pressure-regulating station in its network with a digital inspection system aimed at lowering methane release and boosting supply safety.

E.ON Hungária has introduced a digital examination system at each of its pressure-regulating stations, a move designed to diminish methane emissions and strengthen the safety of its gas supply. These stations lower the high pressure of incoming natural gas to levels suitable for residential and institutional use. By applying the new digital technique, the company expects to achieve a notable cut in methane released during this process.

The Hungarian subsidiary provides gas service to six counties—Baranya, Tolna, Fejér, Veszprém, Zala and Somogy—and maintains about 900 pressure-regulating installations throughout its network. The investment was financed internally by the group.

Why it matters

Reducing methane leaks improves climate outcomes and ensures a more reliable gas supply for millions of Hungarian households.
