Eagles' wideout depth chart shifts as injuries open doors for two under-the-radar players
In Philadelphia, injuries to DeVonta Smith and rookie Makai Lemon have given undrafted receiver Darius Cooper and veteran Elijah Moore prominent roles in training camp.
Philadelphia’s wide receiver group is being reshaped after DeVonta Smith and first-round pick Makai Lemon missed multiple practices due to hamstring injuries. Undrafted rookie Darius Cooper, who earned a roster spot last season, became a frequent target for Jalen Hurts, hauling in a deep pass and two intermediate catches on Aug. 10. Elijah Moore, a former second-round pick, has also distinguished himself as a dependable slot receiver, outshining other newcomers like Hollywood Brown.
The team’s upcoming preseason slate features an Aug. 15 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens and two practice sessions against the New England Patriots on Aug. 19 and 20. Coaches appear cautious about rushing Lemon back, given his limited participation since early August.
