Edge Early Learning centres face closures after failed sale of 11 sites
Eleven early learning centres in Queensland will shut after Edge Early Learning could not find buyers, while 53 other sites secured new operators.
After Edge Early Learning went into administration, administrators KordaMentha were unable to secure buyers for 11 Queensland early learning centres, leading to their imminent closure. The firm did, however, obtain offers for 53 other centres across Queensland and South Australia. Goodstart Early Learning will assume control of 31 sites, including locations such as Aroona, Coomera and Maryborough, while Montessori Academy will take over six centres and Wings Early Learning will manage the Wynnum centre.
Several other operators will acquire additional sites, leaving eight centres—including Cannon Hill and West End—closed. KordaMentha said they are advising families and staff on alternative care and employment options close to the affected sites.
Why it matters
The closures affect childcare access for families and jobs for staff in Queensland communities.
