Egyptian TV host Sarah Khalifa given death sentence in drug‑trafficking case
A Cairo criminal tribunal sentenced television presenter Sarah Khalifa, 39, and eleven co‑defendants to death by hanging after finding them guilty of participating in a criminal network that imported chemicals for drug manufacturing and possessed unlicensed firearms and ammunition. The court sought a legal opinion from the Grand Mufti before confirming the capital punishment. Khalifa, who hosts the crime‑focused programme Mission Impossible, also runs a plastic‑surgery clinic and an events company. Nine other defendants received prison terms of up to 25 years, while seven were cleared of all charges.
