Eight-metre sinkhole shuts down Gua Musang-Kota Baru road

At about 9:05 am, an eight-metre deep sinkhole appeared on FT08 Jalan Gua Musang-Kota Baru close to the Kesedar Recreation Park, prompting officials to close the road to all vehicles. The Public Works Department issued a statement confirming the closure and directing traffic to the detour via Jalan Pulai toward Bandar Baru Gua Musang. District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo verified the event and cautioned drivers to obey safety instructions.
Local representative Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim, the Galas assemblyman, stressed that the affected stretch is the primary route for residents of Taman Kesedar Putra and Taman Kesedar Jaya, as well as school commuters, and called for urgent repair work to prevent the sinkhole from spreading to adjacent roads. Authorities have yet to announce a timeline for fixing the collapse.
Why it matters
The closure blocks the main commuter route for residents and schoolchildren, disrupting daily travel in the Gua Musang area.
