El Camino Real places several coaches on leave pending certification probe

El Camino Real, a Woodland Hills charter school, has removed a number of its coaches from duties pending an external investigation. Interim executive director Emilie Larew acknowledged the inquiry but offered no details. The review centers on allegations that CPR and first-aid certification records may be inaccurate, as the certificates do not appear in the Red Cross database even though they were approved last year by former one outlet director Richard Russell.

Coaches had completed an online course used by other schools, and the school’s one outlet director has not responded to requests for comment. Among those escorted from campus was celebrated baseball coach Josh Lienhard, who has led the team to five city titles. The situation follows earlier dismissals of executive director David Hussey and athletics assistant principal Jason Camp, heightening parental anxiety about the program’s stability.
