Elder Patrick Kearon dedicates Cambodia's 222nd LDS temple in Phnom Penh

Elder Patrick Kearon, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, formally dedicated the Phnom Penh Cambodia Temple, marking it as the 222nd temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He described the structure’s traditional Cambodian style and soaring spires as visual cues that draw the faithful’s gaze upward, fostering inner calm amid busy lives. The temple, covering nearly 10,000 square feet and rising about 35 meters, rests on a 3.2-acre plot on Russian Federation Boulevard, visible to the constant flow of traffic.

Inside, designs reflect Cambodian textiles, patterns, and native vegetation, while artwork depicts local landscapes. Elder Kearon and Sister Jennifer Kearon spoke of the temple as a blessing that enables members to make covenants, honor ancestors, and seek revelation. The dedication followed a public open house that drew government officials and religious leaders, underscoring the Cambodian government’s respect for the church.
