Elderly parents in Pune attacked by sons over disputed land sale
Two brothers in Pune allegedly beat their senior parents with wooden sticks after questioning a land sale registered in the mother’s name.
On August 30, two siblings drove to Tarangwadi village in Indapur tehsil, Pune district, and confronted their 65-year-old father, Tukaram Raut, and his ailing wife, Anjana, about a piece of land registered in the mother’s name that had been sold. The brothers allegedly brandished wooden sticks, striking the father on his back, face, thighs and shoulder, and injuring the mother’s wrist and waist, before issuing threats to kill them if the sale was not cancelled.
Local residents witnessed the attack and alerted police, who arrived and escorted the injured couple to the Sub-District Hospital in Indapur for treatment. Authorities registered a criminal case against the two men at Indapur police station, invoking relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The incident highlights a familial dispute escalating into violence over property matters.
