Elderly woman opens fire in Florida police station, officers intervene

Police reported that an elderly woman entered the lobby of the Port Orange Police Department in Florida at approximately 8:30 a.m., brandishing a handgun. She aimed the weapon at staff members and discharged rounds toward an evidence room where personnel were present. A male officer outside instructed her to put the gun down, but she shook her head and continued toward officers stationed outside the building.
After multiple commands to drop the weapon, officers fired several rounds, stopping when she released the gun. Video later showed her on the ground reaching for the firearm, leading officers to fire again. She received medical assistance and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
