Elderly Worcester neighbour receives suspended sentence for repeated indecent exposure and garden intrusion
Robert May, 73, was given a 27-month suspended prison term and a restraining order after pleading guilty to indecent exposure and entering a widow’s garden to touch her laundry.
Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court sentenced 73-year-old Robert May to a 27-month suspended prison term after he admitted to multiple incidents of indecent exposure and unlawful entry onto Margaret Day’s property in Worcestershire. Over a period of more than six weeks, May was recorded naked in his window masturbating on at least 30 occasions and later caught on a Ring doorbell touching bras hanging on Day’s washing line.
The court also imposed a three-year restraining order and £500 in compensation to the victim. May’s explanations - that he was applying deep-heat to his joints or steadying himself while retrieving a dog’s ball - were rejected as nonsensical by District Judge Ian Strongman. The victim, 79-year-old Margaret Day, described the ordeal as years of harassment that began while she was still married, and her daughter expressed relief that the restraining order should prevent further incidents.
