Election Commission to Revise Rolls in Five Key States This October

A special summary revision (SSR) of electoral rolls is slated for October in the poll-bound states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur, with a qualifying date of 1 January 2027. The move comes despite ongoing SIR Phase 3 activities in 19 states and territories, as well as one outlet census. A nationwide SSR is unlikely this year because of those concurrent processes.
