Election Commission troika unanimously backs SIR orders requiring citizenship declarations on Forms 6 and 8
The Election Commission’s chief and two commissioners have unanimously approved special intensive revision orders that make citizenship details mandatory on Forms 6 and 8 for ongoing election phases.
Election officials announced that the SIR orders covering Phase 1 in Bihar, Phase 2 in several states and Union territories, and Phase 3 in nineteen states and UTs now include Forms 6 and 8 with a compulsory citizenship declaration for voters or their parents.
