Election-denier Kurt Olsen quits Justice Department amid ongoing probe
Kurt Olsen, who pushed efforts to overturn the 2020 election, has left his role at the Justice Department, sources said.
Kurt Olsen, known for his attempts to reverse the 2020 election outcome in favor of President Trump, has departed the Justice Department, according to insiders. While assigned to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida, he was involved in a “grand conspiracy” investigation of Obama- and Biden-era officials, which has yet to produce charges. Olsen’s background includes a White House appointment as Director of Election Security and Integrity and a 2020 effort with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to persuade the Supreme Court to invalidate the election results.
He was also subpoenaed by the House Jan. 6 select committee and made multiple referrals to the FBI, including the Fulton County case that led to a search warrant. The resignation follows the recent departure of prosecutor Joe diGenova, who quit over disagreements with senior Justice Department officials. The department has since added two former prosecutors to the investigative team to fill the gaps left by the exits.
