Bibb County authorities reported that a large gathering at Carolyn Crayton Park in Macon turned violent shortly after midnight on Sunday, resulting in eleven teenagers being shot. The party, originally planned for an Airbnb in Jones County, was relocated to the park after the host asked guests to leave the rental property. When a second group arrived, an argument escalated into gunfire.
The injured comprise four 18-year-old men, two 18-year-old women and five 17-year-old boys, many of whom are students at Central High School or Northeast High School. Two victims, an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, are in critical condition; the rest are listed as stable. Sheriff David Davis said this is the highest number of people shot in a single incident he can recall.
The FBI has joined the probe, though officials believe the case is locally driven. No suspects have been identified or detained so far.
