Elgato launches $99.99 Wave Go, a pocket-sized wireless mic for mobile creators
Elgato introduced the Wave Go, a $99.99 clip-on wireless microphone the size of an AirPod, targeting creators who record on smartphones and competing with DJI’s Mic Mini.
Elgato, a leading maker of creator hardware for desktop PCs, has entered the mobile-recording market with the Wave Go, a clip-on wireless microphone priced at $99.99 (€99.99/£99.99). Roughly the size of an AirPod and weighing seven grams, the mic promises broadcast-quality sound through a condenser capsule that supports EQ shift, automatic gain control and noise cancellation. It attaches to clothing via a magnetic clip and pairs with a USB-C receiver that operates on a 2.4 GHz link, delivering latency of about 24 ms and supporting iPhone, Android and iPad devices.
The optional Smart Handle converts the tiny unit into a full-size interview mic, provides charging (adding five extra charges for up to 48 hours of use) and includes status LEDs. Users can monitor levels, enable noise reduction and check battery status through a dedicated mobile app, and the receiver also works with Elgato’s Wave Link 3.0 software on a desktop. A second mic transmitter is available for $29.99 for dual-voice recording.
