Ellen Burstyn Receives Venice Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement Award at 93

At the Venice Film Festival, 93-year-old Ellen Burstyn accepted the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, entering the venue with a walker and a vibrant yellow dress. The audience responded with a prolonged standing ovation, prompting Burstyn to tear up and thank the crowd for the overwhelming reception. She noted that, although she has previously earned an Oscar, a Tony and multiple Emmys, this honor carries a unique weight.

The ceremony coincided with the debut of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s short “Flesh Impact,” which Burstyn introduced and which pays tribute to Marilyn Monroe.
