Elliot Page Says No New Film Offers After Blockbuster 'The Odyssey'

Elliot Page told a podcast that, despite starring in the $1.4 billion-grossing film The Odyssey, no one has approached them for another role.

Elliot Page revealed on the On Film with Kevin McCarthy podcast that, despite the massive $1.4 billion box-office success of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, they have not been offered any new film roles. The transgender actor, who came out in 2020, explained that industry attitudes toward them have shifted, creating obstacles to being cast. Page said they would welcome the chance to work on projects that prioritize good storytelling.

The conversation also highlighted Samantha Morton’s experience, who after playing Circe in the same film says she has not worked for a year, blaming Hollywood’s ageism despite her acclaimed career. Both actors suggest that changing industry politics are limiting opportunities for seasoned talent.

Why it matters

It shows how gender transition and age bias can still restrict opportunities for established actors in Hollywood.
