Elon Musk's Boring Company secures $3 billion, valuing it at $23 billion

The Boring Company announced a $3 billion financing round that lifts its valuation to $23 billion, backed by investors including the United Arab Emirates.

Elon Musk’s The Boring Company disclosed a $3 billion funding round that values the startup at $23 billion, marking the latest sizable cash infusion into Musk’s portfolio after SpaceX’s record-breaking public listing. The Series D round attracted venture firms Sequoia Capital, A16z, Baron Capital and sovereign investment from the United Arab Emirates, which also became the lead investor. The company’s flagship operation is the Vegas Loop, a four-mile tunnel beneath the Las Vegas Convention Center that moves passengers in Teslas, with ambitions to grow to roughly 68 miles and launch similar loops in Nashville and Dubai.

Additionally, the firm agreed to build more than 150 km of tunnels throughout the UAE. The Boring Company has also dug specialized “Cybertunnels” for Tesla’s Cybertruck production in Texas. According to reports, investors may need to help recruit staff and forge business deals as part of their participation. The financing underscores continued investor appetite for Musk-related ventures despite earlier setbacks on hyperloop and other tunnel projects.

Why it matters

The funding gives Musk's tunneling venture resources to expand its transit projects and signals strong investor confidence in his broader business empire.
