Elon Musk told listeners of the All-In tech podcast that he is currently calling an Airstream trailer his home while overseeing the build-out of xAI’s Macrohard data center in Memphis, Tennessee. He joked that the trailer is his "palace," eliciting laughter from co-hosts Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks, David Friedberg, and SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell, who noted Musk’s habit of sleeping on factory floors.

The iconic silver-bullet trailer, a design unchanged since the 1930s, has historic ties to NASA’s Apollo 11 quarantine and is part of the Museum of Modern Art’s collection. Musk’s choice mirrors earlier episodes of living in modest accommodations, such as a rented house near SpaceX’s Boca Chica site and a Boxabl prefab used as a guest house. During the same conversation, he addressed speculation about a Tesla-SpaceX merger, saying the two firms already collaborate heavily and a merger remains possible.
