Embraer taps Mahindra for IAF transport deal and partners with Adani on civilian jets
Embraer announced Mahindra will partner on the Indian Air Force’s 60-aircraft transport tender, while teaming with Adani for commercial aircraft projects.
In a recent interview, Embraer Defence & Security President and CEO Bosco Da Costa Junior confirmed that the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer has chosen Mahindra Group as its Indian partner for the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme, which calls for 60 new transport planes with an option for additional units. Embraer will offer its twin-engine C-390, already in service with Brazil, Portugal and other air forces, citing a 93 % fleet availability rate and successful trials on unpaved desert runways with the UAE Air Force.
On the commercial side, the company is partnering with the Adani Group to address growing demand for regional flights and connectivity, and aims to develop India into a hub for its supply-chain and maintenance, repair and overhaul network. Embraer currently holds roughly 70 C-390 orders worldwide, including recent orders from the UAE and Colombia, and views the Indian case as strategically vital for expanding its global support base.
