Emily Watson Discusses Season Two of HBO Max’s Dune: Prophecy and New Projects

At a Variety Lounge session hosted by the Sarajevo Film Festival and BH Telecom, Emily Watson reflected on her return to the HBO Max series Dune: Prophecy, confirming she will reprise Valya Harkonnen in a second season that has been filmed but lacks a release date. She described the experience as a “true departure” into a spaceship environment and teased that the upcoming episodes contain numerous novel and intriguing components.
Watson also voiced anticipation for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, praising the director and the ensemble cast. In addition to the sci-fi series, she recently completed filming Mira Nair’s biopic AMRI, playing the mother of Hungarian-Indian artist Amrita Sher-Gil, with locations spanning Budapest and India. Throughout the conversation, Watson emphasized the importance of nurturing relationships with emerging performers, noting the difficulty of long-term separations from family during shoots.
