Engineers Begin Major Repairs on Landslide-Damaged Agusan-Bukidnon Highway
Government engineers have started extensive stabilization work on a landslide-affected mountain road that links Butuan City and Bukidnon, a key corridor for regional agricultural trade.
The repair effort focuses on the Butuan City-Malaybalay corridor in Tungao, reconnecting Sitio Danapa with the Lingayao-Lawan-lawan road in Barangay Durian, Las Nieves. The highway serves as a vital transport link for the LASBUENASCAR alliance, which unites four towns in western Agusan del Norte. Officials say the upgraded route will boost the flow of farm products between Caraga and Northern Mindanao. The project is part of a broader push to improve infrastructure in the region after the landslide disrupted traffic.
Why it matters
Stabilizing the highway will restore a key trade corridor, helping farmers move goods and boosting the regional economy.
