England fast bowler Brydon Carse charged after Derby nightclub incident
Brydon Carse has been charged with bringing cricket into disrepute following an August night-out in Derby where he was arrested for alleged drunken disorder.
England’s Brydon Carse faced police action on 23 August in Derby, where officers arrested him on suspicion of drunken disorderly conduct, a scene captured on social media. A later investigation by Derbyshire Police into an alleged assault from that evening was closed without further action. The Cricket Regulator subsequently filed a charge of bringing the game into disrepute against Carse.
As a result, he was withdrawn from England’s second Test versus Pakistan and excluded from the forthcoming ODI tri-series squad. The matter has been forwarded to the independent Cricket Discipline Panel, which may impose additional sanctions. The incident highlights the sport’s strict disciplinary framework for off-field behaviour.
Why it matters
The case shows how off-field conduct can affect a player's career and team selection in international cricket.
