Entrepreneur group quantifies French social model financing burden on businesses

Amid heated budget debates, the entrepreneur collective "Trop c’est trop" published a detailed report enumerating all taxes, contributions and social charges levied on French firms. The initiative, born from a strong sense of frustration, seeks to provide hard data on how corporate payroll deductions fund public services and the welfare system. Bertrand Martinot, an economist at the Institut Montaigne, said the goal is to counter narratives that blame companies for receiving excessive aid while ignoring their financing role.
Emmanuel Vasseneix, chief executive of the agro-food company LSDH and spokesperson for the movement, argued that one outlet fiscal pressure undermines both competitiveness and the sustainability of enterprises. The report, titled "Socle invisible," aims to inform policymakers and the public about the hidden cost of the social model on businesses.
