Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu files discrimination complaint against Metrorex union chief

In a video posted to social media, interim Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu announced she has filed a formal complaint with the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD) against Marian Artimon, the Metrorex union president and a general councilor for Bucharest representing the Social Democratic Party. Buzoianu contended that Artimon's remarks during a press conference, suggesting an excess of women in leadership positions at Metrorex, constitute more than a personal view and expose a discriminatory attitude.

She highlighted that his dual role allows him to make decisions impacting hundreds of thousands of women and girls in the city, who contribute economically and socially. The minister criticized the notion that female leadership is a disadvantage, describing it as indicative of a problematic mindset. While calling for Artimon's resignation and for his party to withdraw support, Buzoianu noted she does not expect those outcomes and instead seeks CNCD sanctions under anti-discrimination law.
