EPFO rolls out official WhatsApp channel for provident fund updates

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has opened a verified WhatsApp channel that members can join to receive scheme updates and educational videos.

Through a post on X, EPFO invited employees to join its official WhatsApp channel by clicking a provided link. Once subscribed, members can initiate interaction by sending a "Hello" to the verified number marked with a green tick. The service pushes educational links, such as videos on EPF advance withdrawals, contributions after re-joining work, and details of the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana.

Communications are delivered in local languages and can be sent directly to the member’s registered mobile number. The organisation’s website also points users to online tools for UAN activation, claims, transfers, KYC and pension services. The launch follows earlier reports that EPFO was preparing to use WhatsApp because of its widespread use across India.

Why it matters

It gives millions of Indian workers a convenient way to access provident fund information via a popular messaging app.
