Epic Games launches cross-platform voice chat for Fortnite and its services
Epic Games introduced "Epic Parties," a new voice-chat system that works across Fortnite, the Epic Games Store and the Epic Games app, allowing players on any hardware to talk together.
Epic Games has rolled out a cross-platform voice-chat service called Epic Parties, linking Fortnite, the Epic Games Store and the Epic Games mobile app. Players can begin a voice call in the app, then move the conversation into a Fortnite match without interruption, regardless of the device each participant uses. The system remains active in the background on mobile and when users play other Epic titles.
An invitation to an Epic Party automatically groups friends into the same Fortnite lobby, and a "Start Party" button in text chats enables a quick transition from text to voice. This addition builds on the text-chat tools Epic introduced last year, expanding real-time communication options for its ecosystem.
Why it matters
It gives gamers a unified way to talk across devices, improving coordination and social interaction in Fortnite and other Epic titles.
