Erewhon launches first store beyond LA County with charity smoothie event

Erewhon held a grand opening on August 26 for its first location outside Los Angeles County, featuring free gifts, exclusive menu items and a smoothie whose proceeds support a local food bank.

Erewhon celebrated the opening of its first store outside Los Angeles County on August 26, operating from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and handing out complimentary tote bags, flowers and store-specific hats and candles to members. The location introduced exclusive menu items, including a steak sandwich served on a toasted baguette and the “Amidst the Oaks” smoothie, which blends pineapple, coconut water, raw ginger, basil, spirulina and mint, with part of the smoothie’s revenue earmarked for the Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank.

The chain has been expanding its presence in the region, adding stores at LACMA and West Hollywood earlier this year and preparing a Costa Mesa outlet next month, with a downtown site slated for June 2027. After a temporary closure due to the 2025 Palisades fire, the Pacific Palisades shop reopened in Palisades Village. Erewhon’s clientele, known for favoring high-priced smoothies and influencer-driven hype, can join tiered membership programs ranging from a $200 annual plan with a free monthly smoothie to “Premier” and “Reserve” levels that grant free delivery, priority checkout and line-skipping privileges. The event attracted loyal fans, including New Yorker Zarna Mahen Joshi, who pledged to attend the grand opening.

Why it matters

The opening marks Erewhon's first expansion beyond LA County, signaling growth for a high-profile health-food retailer and its charitable partnership.
