Ester Expósito signs on to lead Colombian director’s debut film ‘Stink Eye’
Spanish actress Ester Expósito has signed a letter of intent to headline “Stink Eye,” the first feature by Colombian writer-director Cristina Sánchez Salamanca, showcased at Madrid’s Iberseries Co-Production and Financing Forum.
Ester Expósito, known for the series “Elite,” has committed to star in the upcoming feature “Stink Eye” (“Malmirada”), the debut of Colombian director-writer Cristina Sánchez Salamanca, whose short “Bebé” premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Festival. The film, presented at Madrid’s Iberseries Co-Production and Financing Forum, follows 13-year-old Nina whose life unravels after her father leaves her mother for a striking model-influencer, a part Expósito will portray.
Goya-nominated cinematographer Gris Jordana, noted for Netflix’s “La Bola Negra,” is attached to the project. Sánchez Salamanca based the script on her own childhood, describing the story as a dark-comedy body-horror that explores identity, sexuality, and the shadow of a charismatic stepmother. Production companies include Continente Pictures, Ringo Media, and Dibona Films, with producers Duván Duque Vargas, Paola Pérez Nieto and Mireia Graell involved. The film has also participated in development programs such as the Torino Film Lab, ECAM Forum and Sørfond’s Pitching Forum, winning awards at Colombia’s Bogota Audiovisual Market, Ventana Sur and Guadalajara.
