Estonian Court Sentences Pro-Kremlin Propagandist Oleg Bessedin to Seven Years
An Estonian court sentenced Oleg Bessedin to seven years in prison for anti-Estonia propaganda and repeated EU sanctions violations, ordering seizure of assets worth €77,104.32.
A first-tier Harju County Court in Estonia convicted Oleg Bessedin, a 52-year-old propagandist aligned with Kremlin narratives, of crimes against the nation’s sovereignty and multiple breaches of EU sanctions. The court approved a plea agreement reached with the Office of the Prosecutor General, imposing a seven-year imprisonment term. In addition, the state will confiscate assets totaling €77,104.32 and apply procedural costs of €3,195.80 from the seized funds.
Bessedin’s activities, dating from May 2022, included operating a YouTube channel that spread pro-Russian war rhetoric, managing TVN to broadcast sanctioned Russian programming, and transferring film rights to a Russian state media agency. He was detained after his November 2025 arrest, and the judgment has not yet entered into force.
