Estonian slackliner Jaan Roose set to cross 160-metre highline over Seoul
Aerial athlete Jaan Roose will attempt a 160-metre highline walk 120 metres above central Seoul on Thursday, weather permitting.
Estonian slackliner Jaan Roose, a three-time world champion, will try to traverse a 160-metre highline suspended 120 metres above central Seoul on Thursday. The line runs between the Koreana hotel and the Dong-A Media Center, close to the historic Gwanghwamun palace and square. Roose, 34, has previously performed in dramatic urban settings, including a 185-metre walk between Qatar’s Iconic Towers and a 3.6-km crossing of the Strait of Messina.
In Seoul, crowds are expected to watch two attempts, one at 1 pm and another at 4 pm, provided wind does not exceed 10 m/s on average or gusts 15 m/s. A sunny forecast with light breezes is in place. Roose cited a 2022 trip to South Korea, where he encountered jultagi - a UNESCO-listed blend of acrobatics and comedy - as the inspiration for this stunt.
