European Parliament lifts immunity of MEP Grzegorz Braun amid Holocaust denial allegations

The European Parliament has voted to lift the immunity of MEP Grzegorz Braun after a confidential legal committee supported the move. This removal permits national courts in Poland to conduct investigations or bring criminal proceedings against him. Braun faces accusations from the Krakow branch of the Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation for statements made in September 2025 that disputed the presence of gas chambers at the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp.

He publicly repeated these claims during a live-streamed debate in Warsaw and in interviews on Radio Wnet and a YouTube program. While Braun has not admitted guilt, he says he will respond once he receives the formal indictment. Prosecutors have scheduled a hearing to present the charges.
