Eurostar to debut double-deck trains with two-level cocktail lounges in 2031
Eurostar plans to roll out 30 new Celestia trains from 2031, each featuring a two-storey bar open to all passengers.
Eurostar announced that its upcoming Celestia fleet will consist of 30 double-deck trains slated to enter service in May 2031. At launch, six trains will operate across one outlet Eurostar network and will extend service to Geneva and Frankfurt. Each train will house a two-storey cocktail bar that any passenger can access, promoted as the main attraction of the new design.
The name Celestia, meaning “heavenly,” reflects the aim of offering an extraordinary travel experience. In response to recent extreme heatwaves, the trains will be equipped with air-conditioning systems that function at temperatures as high as 55 °C, ensuring comfort through the 2060s. Eurostar expects the new fleet to modernise cross-channel travel and set a benchmark for European high-speed rail.
