Everton striker Martin Sherif faces FA charge over 61 alleged football bets

The Football Association announced that Everton forward Martin Sherif has been charged with a breach of its betting regulations, specifically Rule E1.2, after allegedly placing 61 bets on football fixtures between 20 November 2024 and 12 February 2026. Sherif, who is 20 years old, has until Monday 17 August to submit a formal response to the allegations. The Liberia-born striker entered Everton’s youth system in 2019 and began training with the senior squad in early 2025.

He spent the previous season on loan at League One side Rotherham United, scoring twice in ten appearances before being recalled in December due to injuries, and later joined Port Vale on loan, netting two goals in 17 games as the club faced relegation. The FA’s statement highlighted the alleged betting activity and the procedural deadline for Sherif’s reply.
