Ex-Army Man Arrested in Delhi After Killing Gurgaon Paying-Guest Operator Over Debt
An ex-serviceman was taken into custody in Delhi hours after he allegedly shot dead a paying-guest operator in Gurgaon during a dispute over a loan.
Gurgaon authorities reported that Amarjeet Grewal, a 40-year-old former Indian Army soldier, opened fire on Hemant Kaushik, a 32-year-old paying-guest operator, during a financial disagreement on Tuesday evening. The confrontation occurred in Acharya Nagar after Kaushik arrived to discuss repayment of a loan of around Rs 6.5 lakh taken in 2021. Grewal allegedly shot Kaushik in the forehead at close range, and the victim later died at Fortis Hospital despite initial treatment at Kalyani Hospital.
Police from Sector 14 and the Crime Branch Manesar coordinated a joint operation, locating and arresting Grewal in Delhi within four to five hours. A murder case has been filed, and investigators are searching for the firearm used. The victim’s body was released to his family after an autopsy.
