Ex-boyfriend who murdered Long Island grandmother killed by police in Massachusetts

Rachel Frislid, a 62-year-old grandmother and small-business owner in Sayville, Long Island, was found stabbed to death in her home after a family member discovered her body. Police identified her ex-boyfriend, Brandon Hampson, as the suspect responsible for the killing. Hampson later traveled to Massachusetts, where he approached officers at the French King Restaurant and Motel in Erving brandishing a knife.

Suffolk County Police officers responded by shooting him dead. Community leaders, including Sayville Chamber of Commerce president emeritus Eileen Tyznar, mourned Frislid, calling her a “heart of gold.” The case underscores a tragic escalation from domestic violence to a fatal police encounter.
