He said the mission involved a loitering munition designed to locate radars around Sargodha, with a flight time of about two hours. When the weapon failed to find a radar, it descended and is believed to have struck one of the hills, causing visible smoke that Pakistani outlets reported.
Chauhan emphasized that the impact was unintended, resulting from the drone’s programmed fallback behavior. The explanation aims to quell regional tension sparked by the incident. No casualties were reported in the account.
