Ex-Hollywood executive Mary Carole McDonnell added to FBI most-wanted fraud list

Former Bellum Entertainment CEO Mary Carole McDonnell has been placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudsters list, with a $150,000 reward offered for information leading to her arrest.

Mary Carole McDonnell, who once led Bellum Entertainment before its abrupt 2017 shutdown, has been listed on the FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudsters roster. Prosecutors allege she defrauded California banks of almost $30 million and committed aggravated identity theft, employing a series of aliases such as Mary Carole Carroll and Mary C. Carroll. Between July 2017 and May 2018 she is said to have extracted $14.7 million from a bank while knowingly lacking legal claim to the funds, and she has not repaid any of the money.

After a federal arrest warrant was issued in 2018, McDonnell is thought to have fled to Dubai. The FBI, coordinating with overseas law-enforcement agencies, is offering a $150,000 reward for information that leads to her capture and conviction, and urges anyone with knowledge to contact the nearest FBI office or U.S. diplomatic mission.

Why it matters

The case highlights large-scale financial fraud and the challenges of tracking fugitives across borders.
