Ex-husband and In-Laws of Hong Kong Socialite Abby Choi Face Murder Trial
Alex Kwong, his father Kwong Kau and brother Anthony Kwong have begun a murder trial for the 2023 killing of socialite Abby Choi.
A murder trial commenced Monday for Alex Kwong, his father Kwong Kau and brother Anthony Kwong, who are charged with killing Hong Kong socialite Abby Choi in February 2023. Police had discovered parts of Choi’s dismembered body inside a unit in the Tai Po district and later searched a landfill for further evidence. The three men face a possible life sentence for murder and an additional charge of obstructing the lawful burial of a body.
Choi, 28, was a well-known Instagram personality who had posted about attending a Dior show at Paris Fashion Week just days before her death. The courtroom was filled with onlookers, and a live broadcast was arranged for the public. Each defendant wore a mask; Kwong Kau was in a white T-shirt while his sons were dressed in suits. The prosecution will present its case later, and the jury trial is expected to run for about 45 days.
