Ex-wife pleads not guilty in alleged murder-for-hire of celebrity doctor
A California woman accused of hiring a hitman to kill her former husband, a well-known physician, entered a not-guilty plea to murder charges.
A 54-year-old Calabasas woman, Ahang Mirshojae, has entered a not-guilty plea to a murder charge stemming from the August 2024 ambush of her ex-husband, Dr. Hamid Mirshojae, a high-profile physician whose patients included celebrities. Prosecutors allege Mirshojae hired Texas gunman Evan Hardman, promising $400,000 after an earlier robbery attempt to steal two watches fell short. Hardman testified that Mirshojae expressed a desire to “take him all the way out” and later celebrated the shooting, handing over a cash-filled bag.
The doctor was shot at close range outside his Woodland Hills clinic on the 5900 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard and died instantly. Earlier assaults on the doctor involved a blunt weapon and other hired men, though a judge found insufficient evidence to try two of those accomplices. Both Mirshojae and Hardman remain detained without bail as the case moves toward a June 2026 trial.
