Explosion topples historic building in central Athens
An explosion around 7:30 a.m. caused an old building on Lysikratous Street in Plaka, Athens, to collapse.
The blast occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. on a structure near the Gate of Andrianou in the Plaka district. First reports indicated the building was completely destroyed. Firefighters and police units rushed to the scene and are currently securing the area. Authorities have not released further details at this time.
