EY launches AI Value Realization Office to oversee and monetize its artificial intelligence spend

EY is establishing a new AI Value Realization Office to centralize governance of its AI investments and ensure measurable returns.

EY announced the creation of an AI Value Realization Office to consolidate and manage its artificial intelligence expenditures across the company. Dan Diasio, EY's global consulting AI leader, said the unit should be fully functional in a couple of months and will be responsible for governing spend, driving returns, monitoring usage, and guiding how AI reshapes roles. He argued that funding AI by individual departments often misses broader opportunities, noting EY-Parthenon research that 75% of AI-related enterprise value stems from cross-functional streams.

The office will assess initiatives beyond simple cost-benefit calculations, directing funds toward the most promising opportunities. EY has already invested $1.4 billion in its EY.ai platform and uses an internal AI router that cut token consumption by 60% since April. The move reflects a growing need among clients to control AI costs as pricing models evolve, and Diasio expects similar dedicated AI functions to emerge in other organizations over time.

Why it matters

It shows how large firms are structuring oversight to capture AI's cross-departmental value and control rising costs.
