Ezra Jin calls for release of detained Zion Church leaders and predicts revival in China

Pastor Ezra Jin, recently freed and back in the United States, urged President Xi Jinping to free eight remaining Zion Church leaders and expressed confidence that Chinese Christianity will experience a major revival.

Ezra Jin, a pastor who was detained for 266 days and released to the United States in July, used a recent interview to ask President Xi Jinping to end the persecution of Christians and free eight Zion Church leaders still held in China. Jin described how his house-church, founded in 2007, grew to about 1,500 weekly attendees before being shut down, prompting members to worship in parks and later adopt Zoom for services, which attracted thousands nationwide.

The pandemic amplified this online reach, leading to the establishment of over 100 churches in more than 40 cities. Jin believes that as state pressure lessens, Chinese Christianity will see a substantial resurgence and urges global Christians to pray for those still imprisoned. He also highlighted the broader global challenges to Christianity, encouraging vigilance among believers everywhere.
