Fact Check Shows No Original High School Diploma Presented by Ina Liem for Vice President Gibran

A video claiming Ina Liem submitted Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s original high school diploma to the Constitutional Court was false; the document was a copy of an MDIS press release about an Advanced Diploma.

A video circulating on social media suggested that educational consultant Ina Liem presented Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s original high school diploma during a Constitutional Court hearing on the election results dispute. In reality, the footage from the fourth hearing on October 1 showed Liem submitting a press release from the Management Development Institute of Singapore, dated October 1 2025, which documented Gibran’s completion of an Advanced Diploma program from 2007 to 2010.

The court confirmed the document was not a high-school diploma and that no other proof of a qualifying secondary education credential had been provided. A Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education witness affirmed that no high school diploma was received in Gibran’s equivalency application, which only included attendance records. The Constitutional Court’s October 6 ruling stated it found no convincing evidence that Gibran possessed a foreign diploma equivalent to the required SMA level, noting an exemption clause cited by some officials was not approved. Gibran responded by respecting the court’s decision and maintaining his qualifications meet the required level.

Why it matters

Clarifies that the Vice President does not have a verified high-school equivalency, addressing misinformation about his eligibility.
