Fadhlina Sidek urges continuous Malaysia Agreement commitment beyond election cycles

PKR Wanita leader Fadhlina Sidek warned that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 must not become a campaign-only agenda, insisting the promise to Sabah and Sarawak transcends electoral cycles. She highlighted that the agreement has long been embedded in her party’s platform and constitution, and that respecting it means listening to the aspirations of the two states. As Education Minister, she cited successful collaboration on issues such as teacher hiring, dilapidated school repairs, and greater state involvement in planning educational needs.

She thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for keeping Sabah and Sarawak high on the national agenda. The remarks followed her participation in the 2026 MA63 Implementation Action Council meeting at the Sabah International Convention Centre, where Anwar described MA63 as a binding national trust requiring sincere and fair fulfillment. Both leaders called for ongoing dialogue to ensure equitable prosperity across Malaysia.
