Fake Daejon Love 49ers highlight reel goes viral, confuses rookie fans

A parody video portraying Daejon Love as a 49ers wide receiver has spread online, despite him never having played for the team.

A satirical video presenting Daejon Love as a breakout 49ers receiver has been circulating on social media, although Love never appeared in a game for the franchise. The clip, about 40 seconds long, blends authentic 49ers game footage with fabricated scouting graphics that claim he trains with Tyreek Hill, Antonio Brown and John Brown, and even lists a "private contract" with San Francisco. Online commenters have embellished the fictional résumé, ranking him above actual players and inventing a Super Bowl stat line.

The parody has drawn reactions from NFL figures, with Tyreek Hill jokingly acknowledging the claim while John Brown flatly denied knowing Love; the Kelce brothers also weighed in. The story has become a running gag for new 49ers rookie De’Zhaun Stribling, who inherited Love’s former jersey number 7 and finds the situation "kind of crazy."

Why it matters

The viral hoax blurs fact and fiction, highlighting how easily false sports narratives can spread online.
