Family of nurse killed in Sarawak helicopter crash receives disaster aid

The family of Debra Moset, a 40-year-old nurse killed when a Flying Doctor Service helicopter went down in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, was visited by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. She presented RM3,000 in cash under the National Welfare Foundation’s PEKA YKN disaster-relief programme. Moset’s mother, Renog Rasas, also received RM300 from the Immediate Assistance Fund and has been recommended for a RM600 monthly senior-citizen allowance beginning in October.

The Sarawak Social Welfare Department is handling her request for a Kenyalang Gold Card and senior-citizen health benefit. The crash on September 8 claimed five lives as the crew was en route to provide health care to isolated villages in northern Sarawak.
