Family of schoolgirl files lawsuit against government agencies and alleged killer

The mother and sister of Yap Shing Xuen have lodged a civil claim in Kuala Lumpur High Court against several government bodies, the boy who killed her and his parents.

Yap Shing Xuen was killed on 14 October of the previous year. Her mother and sister submitted a suit on 1 October, represented by the firm Messrs Surendra Ananth. The complaint names multiple government agencies, the boy responsible for the killing and his parents as defendants. The family argues that appropriate actions, especially regarding student mental-health support, could have averted the tragedy.
