Fast-moving Taffle Fire forces evacuations near Sage, Riverside County
A rapidly spreading wildfire dubbed the Taffle Fire burned about 55 acres on Friday in Riverside County, prompting evacuation orders for several zones.
Around midday on Friday, a wildfire erupted in the 44200 block of Taffle Ranch Road, south of Red Mountain Road, within the Sage area of Riverside County. The fire, named the Taffle Fire, surged to roughly 55 acres and remained just 5% contained by 3:09 p.m., according to CAL FIRE. Strong, variable winds complicated efforts to establish effective retardant lines, raising concerns for nearby homes. Authorities reported one structure directly impacted and several others at risk, prompting evacuation orders for zones RVC-1912 and RVC-1979 and evacuation warnings for zones RVC-1913-B, RVC-1769-A, and RVC-1770-B. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and firefighters continued to battle the blaze to protect the surrounding community.
