Police responded to a shooting on a Culver CityBus in Mar Vista at approximately 5:15 p.m. near the intersection of South Centinela and Mitchell avenues. Witnesses reported hearing three shots; a man with a head wound was taken off the bus and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Authorities said the deceased was the bus driver, though they released only his age and gender.
The suspected shooter, described as a white male who escaped on a bicycle, remains at large. Culver City Mayor Freddy Puza called the act “senseless” and announced a weekend suspension of Culver CityBus service for staff to grieve. The case is assigned to the LAPD West Bureau Homicide.
